As digital technologies continue to transform global politics, governance, and economic systems, countries in the Global South face unique opportunities and challenges in shaping the evolving digital order. Issues such as technology governance, artificial intelligence regulation, cybersecurity, data sovereignty, and the geopolitical competition surrounding digital infrastructure are increasingly central to international relations.

The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) invites you to join an engaging panel discussion titled “Bytes & Borders: The Global South & the Digital Order.” This timely discussion will bring together leading experts to explore how countries in the Global South are navigating the rapidly evolving digital landscape and responding to global debates on technology regulation and digital governance.

The panel will feature distinguished speakers including Nalaka Gunawardene, Media Analyst, and Ashwini Natesan, Legal Consultant and Researcher specializing in Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Law. The session will be moderated by Asela Waidyalankara, AI Governance and Digital Policy Leader.

Through expert insights and dialogue, the discussion will examine how emerging technologies are reshaping international power dynamics, influencing policy frameworks, and redefining the role of developing nations in global digital governance.
